 Eagle Scout Essay Contest

The NJ Society Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is pleased to announce that Eagle Scout Chase Wolff, of Andover, has won the NJ State SAR Eagle Scout Scholarship Essay Contest. The local Col. John Rosenkrans Chapter presented Chase with a certificate upon achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and a medal to mark his winning scholarship entry.  On Saturday, February 21, Chase was presented with a trophy and certificate from the NJ Society SAR for winning at the state level of the competition.  His essay and application have been submitted to the National Society SAR for further consideration.

The SAR Eagle Scout Recognition and Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding Eagle Scouts in our communities. Every SAR chapter sponsors an Eagle Scout Competition that includes an application detailing Scouting experience, academic achievements, and community service, a 500-word essay on a patriotic theme, and a four-generation genealogy chart. The winner of each SAR chapter competition is entered in the SAR state competition. The winner of each state competition competes in the National Society's Eagle Scout Competition and vies for $14,000 in scholarships.

Eagle Scout Award

Mike Wentz, Eagle Scout, Troop 254 and Donna Hare, Assistant Scout Master and Regent, Gen. Lafayette Chapter, DAR, receive SAR Awards from Bill Schmitz and Rev. Thomas at the August 9, 2007 meeting..

These, well deserved awards, were a result of Mike’s Eagle Scout project to restore the entire area around the two monuments at Chestnut Neck. Mike gathered a large team of volunteers. Along with a detailed clean-up, they power washed concrete areas, drilled and installed a well with pump. An amazing, well done job.

Mike will be joining the United States Navy at the end of the summer.
